Claritza

I have worked for more than 30 years as a Spanish teacher in Antigua, Guatemala with 15 of these years being online. I have had the opportunity to travel to the United States to visit many states, including helping to teach Spanish in an elementary school in Washington and a high school in Illinois.

I love smiling and laughing! I like walking in the mountains, listening to music, dancing, reading a good book, hanging out with my co-workers, and drinking good coffee. I enjoy teaching people who want to learn Spanish!

¡Bienvenido!
Welcome!

Hola, soy Claritza Morales. Soy de Antigua. Soy una maestra de español. ¡Me encanta enseñar mi idioma! Disfruto hacerlo. Me ajusto a cada una de las necesidades de mis estudiantes. Amo caminar en las montañas, compartir con mi familia. ¡Amo mi país!

Hi, I’m Claritza Morales. I am from Antigua. I am a Spanish teacher. I love to teach my language! I enjoy teaching it. I adjust to the needs of each of my students. I enjoy walking in the mountains, spending time with my family. I love my country!

Teaching Style

I teach in a simple way where the student can quickly apply what they have studied during our conversations. My focus is on conversation and helping with fluency, but I also use different books to support my lessons and I selected material from the internet to give homework to my students. Most importantly, I adapt my lessons to each of my students’ needs and interests.

I have had the opportunity to work with people from many countries around the world and with people from different professions such as doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, nurses, and medical students from various institutions. I like to share my language with each of my students. Each student is a great experience and an adventure in Spanish teaching.

“I started taking classes with Claritza more than six years ago since I needed to learn Spanish for work. I love the ease and flexibility of scheduling, as well as the one-on-one video classes. Claritza is a fantastic teacher who keeps the classes interesting and fun. She is very patient and has really helped to ensure I understand correct grammatical structure through review of assigned homework. I highly recommend Claritza Morales!”

Ally A., Retired

“Thank you for being such a wonderful, skilled, and compassionate teacher. When I started Spanish lessons with Clartiza two plus years ago, I only knew a few words of Spanish. She has made learning Spanish fun, stress-free, and rewarding. She is a skilled teacher with a talent for explaining things clearly. I treasure her kindness, humor and your willingness to go slowly when needed. As I learned more Spanish, our lessons became more in Spanish and less a mix of the two languages. Now we converse entirely in Spanish, which is a real joy."

Peter C.

"I have been studying Spanish for a long time. I use all the on-line sites. I have taken intensive lessons in Peru, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. For some, learning a foreign language is easy; not for me. Nevertheless, I have found that every study aid helps, especially studying and living with a family in a Spanish speaking country. However, I also know that whatever fluency I have, I owe to my weekly conversations with Claritza Morales.

It is hard to articulate precisely why these conversations have been so helpful. I suppose there is something ineffable about human-to-human interactions in person or via Skype. As a professor, I know that a teacher must give feedback carefully. If I give too much correction, a student will shut down. If I give too little correction the student keeps making the same mistakes. The trick is knowing the student. Claritza and I have been studying together for more than four years. We have developed a connection and a rapport. She knows me, y con cuidado y bondad ella me guía. She is more than a teacher and a tutor; she is my friend."

“Claritza is very, very patient and kind and she likes to laugh, all of which promotes a relaxed atmosphere for learning. She always has a lesson prepared but she allows for flexibility if I have any unrelated language questions, or to have conversations about Guatemalan culture, etc. She has helped me over that huge hurdle of being afraid to open my mouth around native speakers. Thanks Claritza!”

Jack P.

“Claritza is a very special person and an excellent teacher. She is very quick to explain certain words that I can’t understand. I’ve been to Guatemala 3 times and have gotten to know her personally as well as some of her students, all of which have high regards.”
